25 Years of Excellence: 1986-2011
In honor of At Home Healthcare’s 25 years in the home care business, we have a newly updated logo with the slogan, “25 years of excellence”. The logo incorporates the color silver, which is commonly associated with a 25th anniversary. 25 years of excellence is more than a slogan for 2011. It is a legacy of excellence in patient care, excellence in recruiting caring and committed employees, and excellence in growth throughout North and East Texas.
At Home Healthcare was founded by Doug Mehling as a Norrell Health Care franchise in 1986, owned and operated by Mehling & Associates, Inc. Norrell Health Care-Tyler provided services for private pay and insurance clients in Smith County. In 1987, Mehling & Associates added HouseCalls, a Medicare Certified and Class A Home Care Agency, to provide services to Medicare patients. The Tyler Hospice program, another Medicare certified and Class A licensed Home Care Agency was added in 1992. This new service allowed the transition of patients from Norrell or HouseCalls to the hospice benefit without changing the personnel providing care, thus facilitating a full service provider of home care services. In 1993, services were provided under the banner of Mehling Health Care. In 1994, Mehling Health Care and Mother Frances Hospital entered into agreements to provide home care services for patients under the Mother Frances Home Care name. In order to better serve patients discharged from Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, branch offices were opened during 1995-6 in the neighboring cities of Canton, Quitman, Athens, Jacksonville and Kilgore. In 1997, all hospice patients were transferred to Hospice of East Texas. In 1998, N Home Care was purchased in Longview; the Kilgore office was moved to Longview. In 1999, the Athens office merged with Canton, a Henderson agency was purchased – Northeast Texas Home Health Agency, Inc. and the name of the company was officially changed to At Home Healthcare.
Today, At Home Healthcare has 11 offices throughout North and East Texas, serving the home care needs of patients in more than 50 counties. The agency has remained under the same ownership since 1986.
