NATIONAL NURSES WEEK - MAY 6 - 12

On May 6, 2010, At Home Healthcare (AHH) is joining the Americnursesweek2010logosman Nurses Association (ANA) in celebrating Nurses:Caring Today for a Healthier Tomorrow, as part of National Nurses Week, which is held May 6-12, every year. The purpose of Caring Today for a Healthier Tomorrow is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people.

Traditionally, National Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which registered nurses, the largest health care profession, are working to improve health care. From bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to the halls of research institutions, state legislatures, and Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding health care needs of American society.

In honor of the dedication, commitment, and tireless effort of the nearly 3.1 million registered nurses nationwide to promote and maintain the health of this nation, the ANA and AHH are proud to recognize registered nurses everywhere on this particular day for the quality work they provide seven days a week, 365 days a year.

2010_hvm_logo_01                    Healthy Vision Month to Focus on Eye Exams
Millions of people in the United States have undetected vision problems and eye conditions. We need your help encouraging people in your community to schedule eye exams. Through a comprehensive dilated eye exam, eye care professionals can detect common vision problems and eye diseases, many of which have no have no early warning signs.

Join the National Eye Institute (NEI) this May during Healthy Vision Month to raise awareness about the importance of dilated eye exams. The NEI has developed a variety of online resources that you can use to encourage people to schedule an eye exam, including e-cards, fact sheets, downloadable posters, and more. No effort is too small and every activity can make a difference.

Healthy Vision Month is an annual observance established by the NEI, one of the federal government’s National Institutes of Health, to keep vision a health priority for the Nation. Visit the Healthy Vision Month Website at www.healthyvision2010.org/hvm to find more information and free educational resources.

Persons with low or diminished vision often have difficulty using their remaining vision efficiently and effectively to complete needed daily activities.  At Home Healthcare has the knowledge and expertise, using HomeSight, a comprehensive program developed specifically for treating low vision patients.  For more information on HomeSight™, visit our Specialty Programs page.

Giving Back....blood_drive_jd_400Throughout the year, At Home Healthcare sponsors blood drives at their offices throughout East Texas.  A blood donation is truly a gift of life to those who are sick or injured.  In a recent study supported by the National Blood Foundation, 3/4 of the individuals who donated stated that giving blood makes them feel good about themselves.  Please help us in supporting local communities and hospitals  - it's a way to pay it forward.
